In an interview way back in 1995, Giorgio Armani famously declared: “Black is the most elegant and intelligent colour.” Ever since, Armani has dressed men and women in the monochrome and emerged as the czar of fashion. For the fashion conscious, wearing an Armani label is the ultimate in luxe.

At the age of 38, Giorgio Armani along with Sergio Galeotti, flush with the money from the sale of a Volkswagen, began his career as a fashion designer with a dream: “I wanted women to be able to wear jackets, like men, without losing anything of their feminine allure.”

The billion-dollar fashion empire built by Giorgio Armani, headquartered in Milan, has a vast portfolio, including Armani Prive, a haute couture range, besides Giorgio Armani, Armani

Exchange, Emporio Armani, Armani Jeans and Armani Collezioni. It designs, manufactures, distributes and retails fashion and lifestyle products including apparel, accessories, eye-wear, watches, jewellery, home interiors, fragrances and cosmetics under a range of brand names.
